About our practice/special interests:
Seacoast Foot Surgery Assoc. was founded in 1985 by Dr. James Wilton to provide state of art medical and surgical care for foot, ankle, and lower extremity problems. Dr. Wilton received formal medical and surgical training under the mentoring of Dr. James V. Ganley, an internationally recognized  surgeon and educator specializing in pediatric foot and leg disorders. His training included the diagnosis and treatment of foot, ankle, and lower extremity congenital deformities, athletic injuries and work related injuries. Ongoing specialized medical and surgical postgraduate training in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of peripheral nerve injuries has allowed Dr. Wilton to provide comprehensive care for complex lower extremity pain syndromes for patients that have been at an endpoint in their current therapy.  He is a national and international level lecturer on lower extremity neurological problems.

Dr. Wilton’s special clinical interests are involved with working with patients who have chronic leg/ankle/foot pain particularly with negative work-up (normal x-rays, EMG/NCV, MRI, CT scan, Bone scan, Blood studies, ect.) and lack of improvement with traditional treatment (Neurology, Orthopedics, NSAIDS, Narcotics, splinting, physical therapy, pain management, surgery).

Dr. Wilton is the medical director of a medical/surgical team for the Damien Foundation in Guayaquil, Ecuador.  His volunteer medical/surgical team specializes in peripheral nerve surgery to reverse paralysis, eliminate pain and restore the loss of sensation in the legs and arms of Leprosy patients.  Since 2002, this volunteer team has participated in 13 medical missions and has operated on over 300 children and adults for pediatric orthopedic, adult orthopedic and adult peripheral nerve problems.

He is past president of the Association of Peripheral Nerve Surgeons (2006) and a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and American Society of Podiatric Surgeons.
